Damn but there's a lot of product placement up in here.

Might have to migrate my backed up content elsewhere and kill this.

aHAHAHAHAHA *snort* *giggle* HAHAHAHAHAHA

For the Whitman alums reading this:

Westboro Baptist Church (the nutbags who protest at soldiers' funerals b/c they think its god's punishment for allowing homosexuality in the country) has picked a new target.

Walt Whitman High School.

Why? Because Walt Whitman may very well have been gay.

I can't decide my opinion on Westboro Baptist. They're certainly offensive, but when they do stuff like this, they just seem like a dumb joke.

Anyway, the choice quotes--from them--on the topic of their upcoming demonstration:

[Walt Whitman High School's] name certainly explains A LOT about Maryland

And then?

The children that attend that high school are taught Rebellion Against God 101 every day in every way.

nilok and lightstatic have both already said it, but to say it again: I would TOTALLY have signed up for a class called Rebellion Against God if they had offered it when I was at Whitman.

On The Subject Of Recent Events

Never been happier with my growing distance from the Camarilla than this weekend.

cchopps recently told me I need to update. So, I guess I will. In handy-to-read, easy-to-write glob form.

GLOB ONE: WORK
I'm still working at MetaMetrics. Coming up on three years in March. Work has finally gotten actually fun, for the most part. We've switched to doing a lot of our web development in Django, which is wonderful, and I've started to transition form pure component/backend programmer to web-programmer. It's a lot of fun, as I said. I've given up my ongoing job hunt for that reason, and for the reason that in the current economic clime a job that is reasonably secure is not one to bail on.

GLOB TWO: CAM
I'm basically not a member. The question of whether or not I'm DST is unanswered (my term expired, no new elections were held). Our domain of two is being kept open for reasons unknown, and I've basically checked out. I hope to keep in touch with friends in the Camarilla via different means, since the Cam just ain't it anymore.

GLOB THREE: HOMELIFE
Homelife is still pretty awesome. Just celebrated kamerone's birthday in tandem with my sister, who has moved into our apartment for the time being as she looks for a job in the area. I'm pretty happy with the arrangment: my sister is awesome and she wants to live in Durham. kamerone is likewise awesome, and being very tolerant of the excess Sackett family up in the hiz-ouse.

GLOB FOUR: OTHER STUFF
I'm working on a startup with an associate my manager introduced me to. In short it's a bid to use travel-aggregates' (Travelocity, Orbitz, &c) affiliate networks to raise money for nonprofits. And take a little off the top for personal profit. It has the potential to be one of those cool win-win scenarios for all involved.

I'm blogging with more regularity over on a tumblr blog, where I mostly post the intersting linky things I used to post here. Tumblr is just a much easier means to do that sort of thing.

I'm also working on my own blog engine for more lengthy items, the ever-present lit-mag thing I posted about long ago, and a photoblog for kamerone (who, if you didn't know, takes amazing photos.)

So. That's me, right now, in lj post form.

(Don't worry, I still read here a lot, and I haven't forgotten you. I just don't post much, and don't think comments in LJ contribute much. Go figure.)

EoY Meme

Dec. 22nd, 2008 | 02:15 pm

Fourth year I've done this. And all it's going to show this time is that on LJ I'm pretty much a lurker now.

For those new to the game, take the first sentence of the first post of each month of 2007 and post it. That's your year in review.

January kamerone and I went and saw [Cloverfield].

February [No posts]

March So? [only text in the post that was not the reposting of a meme's description.]

April kamerone and I are doing Signalfest this weekend.

May [Only text for a meme.]

June [No posts]

July [No posts]

August I'm blogging largely over at http://blog.humanmade.org these days--it's mostly technology based posts, but if you're interested, that's the place to go.

September Or at least is one of them. [Referencing my sister doing the Ironman]

October
I only care about two things regarding you all (politically speaking, that is): that you're registered to vote, and that you've taken some time to really think about how you're voting.

November [No posts]

December [No posts (aside from this one)]

Well...that was informative.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now (even if we don't speak often or ever), please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me.

It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your LJ and see what your friends come up with.

The Effect of Political Music and Boredom

Oct. 6th, 2008 | 05:22 pm

Apparently if I listen to too much activist music and get bored at work I make really bad fliers:

The Truth Is, My Sister Is Ironman

Sep. 2nd, 2008 | 11:37 am

Or at least is one of them. She finished the Ironman Triathlon in Louisville this past weekend in 12 hours, 11 minutes. Her average swim speed split was 2:10/100m, her average run 10:08/mi, her average bike pace was 18.15mph.

So fucking proud of her.

Crossposting is a Pain

Aug. 26th, 2008 | 04:33 pm

So...

I can't, as it turns out, create a syndicated lj feed--it turns out that you have to be a paid member to do that, and since all I really do here these days is read y'alls' posts, it wasn't worth it for me to renew.

So, if someone could create one, that would be cool. The url is http://blog.humanmade.org. Any paid member is supposed to be able to create them.

Alternatively, if anyone knows of a tool that will automatically post to LJ from an rss feed or auto cross post from Tumblr, that would be grand.
